As it was all fascinating that helped a lot. The artwork in this book just draws my attention and keeps me wanting to go further into the book!

You can imagine how hard it would be to be in that kind of mental space in a family of eccentric characters in whom intellect was such a prize. The cut-and-torn paper illustrations are wonderfully detailed and texture-rich, making this an excellent addition to classroom units on action verbs. This book is a pop out book and actually "moves" just like the title of the book and I think that this idea is unique yet very cool! This book is very logical because it is so real on how these animals actually "work."

I must confess to having enjoyed everything I've read by Oliver Sacks. It is a fascinating chronicle of a young man who discovers his sexual orientation during a very prejudiced age, who struggles with a drinking problem, who values the life of the body (working out) as well as the mind, and who loves roaming free, whether on his motorcycle, running or scuba diving. Here the subject is Sacks's own life and the stories of love and loss - and it is unsparingly told - are moving and inspiring in equal measure. (ie: a penguin waddles, an armadillo swims) My three year old can't get enough of it, and I think it would be a great book for any beginning reader as the action words are connected to memorable movement. Some animals Swing, Walk, Dive, Swim, Leap, Slither, Climb, Fly, Run, Dance, Float, Slide, and Waddle. Whether it was his chosen route in life he has doubts, but his eventual medical career as a neurologist is one of eminence with a way of explaining the intricacies of the brain that appeal to laymen and fellow professionals. This book is so much fun and is so enjoyable!
